General Project Information
Welcome to the official website of MAP:ECVET (LLP-LDV-TOI-2007-AT-0029), a Leonardo Innovation Transfer Project, leaded by Dr. Petra Herz, MAS and coordinated by Mag. Robert Herz in cooperation with an experienced transnational board. Project duration will be from December 2007 to December 2009.
MAP:ECVET deals with an European problem of intransparency of European education systems and degrees in the field of allied health professions. The objective of this Project is to develop a model - "competence based framework" - for the comparability of training/education contents of medical assistant professions "MAP's" in the EU and to implement them on national level. A list of skills will be drawn up together with an assessment model for people working as medical assistants. The intention is to facilitate the recognition of national training schemes in other EU Member States. Therefore 12 partner organisations (for more information klick the flag buttons on the right) from different European countries work together and create a MAP:ECVET Certificate as supplement to educational degrees to guarantee free professionalism within the European Countries.
Background
In relations between states, the problem exists that there are at present hardly any opportunities for reciprocal recognition and acknowledgement of training content and qualifications within the group of medical assistant professions "MAP's"in Europe. Apart from isolated bilateral agreements between individual European countries, those who belong to this occupational group have no opportunity at present of practising their vocation in another European country and of acquiring the relevant authorisation to work, and this reduces the mobility of labour to a minimum.
Measures
The MAP:ECVET project deals with a European problem (transparency of European education systems and degrees in the field of medical assistance) and develops its approaches to solutions on the basis of European models (ECVET and EQF) as well as the results of European projects in this field.
The main issues will be:
- The analysis of individual project results from former project such as VQTS and European Key Competencies.
- The development of a competence based framework (table) based on the current discussions about ECVET and EQF (European Qualification Framework) which would allow the individual countries (or in some cases even regions) to present and classify education.
- A memorandum of mutual trust. This memorandum will contractually obligate the partners to comply with the uniform processes and quality standards in the ECVET mission.
- An intensive information campaign about allied health professions and the project results will complement the activities in the project MAP:ECVET and will guarantee a sustainable basis. This campaign is directed to those political decision makers in the area of recognition and allowance in educational content and graduation (eg. ministries, regional governments, facilities for recognizing the educational certification....).
During a pilot phase the project results will be tested for their practical usage in the target groups and based on that the results will be adapted. The project partners consists of a mix of target group representative facilities, educational facilities of allied health professions, employer and employee facilities, hospitals and quality assurance facilities.
